Moving Forward
So lately, I've been away and I haven't been posting much on my blog or my makeup vlog. Lately, a lot has been happening in the news and everywhere. I lost my job back in February and had readjust my focus on my website. I've been angry, depressed, anxious, tired, and lost interest in a lot of the things I loved to do. My mental health had taken a toll, the stress has messed with skin, and my mind had shifted into survival mode which is why I started making the masks you see on my website.
It's not easy being a black person in the United States. Living in a country where the system was built to keep BIPOC down, kill us for sport and then have the nerve to say "God Bless America" is quite blasphemous and overboard disgusting. Overall it's blood boiling! I know people say racism isn't getting worse, it's just being filmed but I honestly do feel like it's getting worse because the evilness this country has enabled in the form DT (I refuse to say his name on my platform because he's a disgrace). Just like everybody else, I am fucking tired of the injustice, the stupidity, the ignorance and the lies this country/this system has brainwashed us into believing. I am tired of having to wake up to hear another one of our brothers and sisters have been slain by KKKops or evil people that the courts go easy on. I am tired of those who think they can control women and their bodies when it's not their place to get in the way of women and God. I am tired of those with privilege getting away with everything and I am tired of the fact that our black brothers and sisters are being overlooked, under appreciated, not given equal opportunities, and not given the respect and credit they richly deserve! Life started with black lives. Black lives built this country and a lot of the inventions that people take for granted today (mail box, lightbulbs, home security system, modern day toilet, blood transfusions, rock music, hockey, soul music, fabric softener, toothpaste...the list goes on).
As a result of taking this time to step back and reflect, I'm gonna be using all my platforms and my talented gifts to help further the movement. What that means is you're gonna be seeing more apparel from my shirts with attitude collection, I'm gonna continue to build my black owned business and collab with other black owned businesses on all my platforms (IG, YT, etc..). If you're with us in the movement for justice, I am willing to collab with you too. Malcolm X said in his "The Ballot or The Bullet" speech that not buying Black or creating our own opportunities can cause our communities to fail: "When you spend your dollar out of the community in which you live the community in which you spend your dollar becomes richer and richer; the community out of which you take your money becomes poorer and poorer."
The only way to fight back is grow stronger as a community. Getting involved, signing each petition we get our hands on, call out injustice, continue to protest, hold people accountable, stay educated, learn to defend ourselves and continue to build wealth.
As a black woman, as a native woman, as a woman of Asian descent, I wanna leave behind a legacy, an empire that I can be proud of that spreads joy, awareness and helps people. People are hurting, people are hungry, and suffering and our government continues to pussy foot around. Our government, this system, has failed us and it has caused us to think quick on our feet. But that just shows how strong we are compared to the suits who run and hide. It's even more of a reason for us to burn it down and rebuild a better system that benefits everybody.
I promise more will be coming soon to my website and I will keep you informed on the new additions to my collections. Please stay safe. Wear the mask and listen to the doctors.
